Transform website.

5th August 2004
| We have finally taken stock of the new album - Anno
Fauve - (see Peter Marsh's review for the BBC above). The official release date is Monday 9th August 2004. The
album is release by Riot
Season and distributed by SRD (UK/Europe), SCRATCH
DISTRIBUTION (Canada / North America), FORCED EXPOSURE (USA),
CONSPIRACY (Belgium), PLATENWORM (Netherlands) and PLOP
DISTRIBUTION (Japan - Plop distro CD's only). There will be various
on-line sources for the album, it should also be available from retail
shops (tell them the name of the relevant distributor for your region),
and it is also available directly from Riot Season or from this site (we
do take credit card payments via PayPal). Please see the ordering page
for details.
The vinyl version of Anno Fauve, which will be released by Fourier Transform, is also well under way. Test pressings were received 3 weeks ago. The vinyl has actually been pressed and is now in the possession of Fourier Transform. The artwork (a three-layer version of the designs from the CD, which will be printed on tracing paper and housed between perspex sheets) should be finished very soon, which leaves just the printing, numbering and assembling of the whole elaborate package to be done. Fourier Transform are hoping that the album will be available by the 23rd of August. Scans of the actual record labels can be found on the resources page, and other images will be posted there as we get them. Aufgehoben were in the studio again on Tuesday 3rd August, recording for what will be the fourth album. This is the first time the full two-drummer line-up has met since the Anno Fauve recording session at Moat Studios, Brixton, in August 2001. As a rule Aufgehoben do not do photographs, even for press purposes. However, for what might be a very limited period we've posted some images and other "memorabilia" from the session which you will find if you look hard enough through the resources page - all of which is of deliberately poor quality. |
26th May 2004
| Countdown has begun on the Aufgehoben
Numbers Page - follow the link to find out more.
Added a comparison chart on the resources page giving full details of the differences between the CD and vinyl versions of Anno Fauve. Aufgehoben return to the studio on the 23rd June 2004. *** This was actually cancelled due to injury - the session was rescheduled and took place on Tuesday 3rd August. Aufgehoben Mailing List #1 sent out 30th May 2004. An archive for mailing lists has been set up on the "resources" page. To subscribe to future mailing lists (which will be VERY infrequent) send us an email from here: subscribe. To remove yourself from the list send us an email from here: unsubscribe |
23rd April 2004
| The new album "Anno Fauve" will be
released on CD by the UK label Riot Season. We're hoping for a
release sometime in June - check back here or at Riot
Season's web-site for news on the release date. If you want to
be kept informed by email (though only intermittently) please send us an
email to be added to the
Aufgehoben mailing list. (You should also subscribe to Riot Season's
mailing list).
While Riot Season will be releasing Anno Fauve on CD, a new label, Fourier Transform, will be releasing a very limited, specially packaged vinyl version of the album which. The vinyl version will also contain at least some different edits/versions of tracks from the CD version - precise details will follow. In the meantime, check out Fourier Transform's website as it looks set to become a really exciting venture. |
8th April 2004
| Website overhaul: Now using images from our forth-coming
3rd album "Anno Fauve." Please check back regularly for
news of its immanent release. The album contains six tracks, two of
them are available for preview under the "Recordings" link on
the right, along with previews of the artwork and sleeve notes
("Small Print").
Negotiations are currently underway to release 2 different versions of Anno Fauve. There will be a CD version as normal, but we may well see a very limited, extravagantly packaged vinyl version which will also feature a different edit of the album. More news here as we have it. Secure credit card ordering via PayPal is now available from the Ordering link. If you would like to be added to the very infrequent Aufgehoben email updates list please send us an email. We have a new domain name - the website can be accessed by both www.aufgehoben.co.uk and www.aufgehoben.org - similarly, emails can be sent to either info@aufgehoben.co.uk and info@aufgehoben.org - aufgehoben.org is shorter and neater - use it! |
13th February 2004
| Our friend Trevor Manwaring died today. He ran both the Chronoscope and Paratactile labels and played an inestimable role in the reception of, amongst other things, the Japanese Underground world wide. He possesed an extraordinary knowledge of, and passion for, all kinds of uncompromising musics and we will miss him hugely. |
Old News: (Completely lost track of when any of this was posted - its just here for archival purposes and in case anything relevant has been forgotten during the site revamp)
| Issue 4 of the UK based fanzine SALT
carries an extensive interview with Aufgehoben No Process, and another
with Gary Smith (the interview will be added to this site in due
course). Its an interesting 'zine that's worth keeping up with. Its
available either by emailing Kevin
McCaighy or online from Aquarius
Records in San Francisco. Here's What Aquarius say about it:
Finally another issue of one of our favorite zines. SALT seems to be the zine version of Aquairus, sharing the same taste in music as well as a similar sense of humor, and a similar joy in discovering new and exciting music. Kind of wish someone would give Kevin SALT a big pile of money so he could do a real magazine and knock the Wire and Terrorizer and Spin and whoever else on their collective asses. This time around an interview with The Summer In Between, an article on Texas' Monotremata Records, an extensive review of the Acid Mothers Temple UK tour, show by show, by Kevin and a handful of friends spread out around England, as well as an interview with AMT mainman Makoto Kawabata where he talks quite a bit about his love of professional wrestling. Also in this SALT, an interview with bay area noise monsters Burmese, an interview with Aufgehoben No Process, an interview with guitarist Gary Smith, an interview with cartoonist Chris Yambar, an article about Rock And Role Play Records, home of the mighty Teen Chtulu, Blood Hag, and perhapst the best named band in the world: The Powersofdarknessshallrainblooduponthiscityfor500years, and an interview with AQ faves BORIS! As with every issue, lots of stuff you already dig, but a bunch of stuff you probably don't yet but undoubtedly will. Buy SALT or at least send this guy all your money. The second album, MAGNETIC MOUNTAIN is currently available - listed in Mojo and in The Wire's "Office Ambience" section (The Wire 213, November 2001, p.48) - and the reviews are rolling in - check under "Recordings" to read the reviews. The line up for this second album includes the highly respected British guitarist Gary Smith. Gary has played with numerous highly gifted musicians, including Joe Gallivan, Pat Thomas, John Stevens, Hugh Hopper and Shoji Hano, Nanjo Asahito & Masayoshi Urabe. His current Band MASS have released 2 excellent albums on the UK Paratactile label, who have also released an album by his other band POWERFIELD and an extraordinary duo record with Joe Gallivan. Gary has also recorded solo for Chronoscope and has established himself as a unique and highly challenging player. His most recent release is Glass Cage with Hugh Hopper and Shoji Hano, also released by Paratactile. Click here for Gary Smith's website. |
